Gosen Electric wins apprenticeship kudos
Gosen Electric Ltd. has been named one of Ontario's top four workplaces for apprenticeships.
Gosen was recognized for taking on five high-school apprentices on a part-time basis before they graduate. The company then allows them to work as construction and maintenance apprentices after they finish their studies.
"Your investment in your employees and their skills provides Ontario with its most effective competitive edge," Chris Bentley, minister of training, colleges and universities, said at an awards event in Toronto.
Don Gosen, the Waterloo company's president, was recognized for giving speeches at area schools to promote the trades as a career choice.
Gosen Electric employs 19.
