
Following on-going lobby efforts by CCA, the Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administra-tors (CCMTA) − an organization that brings together senior federal / provincial / territorial Transport Ministry officials − announced last month that con-struction drivers would not be charged under the new Hours of Service regulations that came into effect January 1, 2007. Instead, CCMTA agreed to a period of ?educational enforcement? until December 31, 2007 for short-haul construction drivers who fall under both federal and provincial regulations. What this means is that for the remainder of 2007, drivers found in violation of the new Hours of Service regula-tions will be provided with educational warnings, and not charged. Read more
