Job Description
A Project Manager has the responsibility of the planning and execution of projects related to the construction industry. He/she is responsible for overall management and administration of a construction project. This person may work out of the office or in a field office. Duties include: preparation and processing of subcontract documents, shop drawings, change orders, receiving and checking contract change notices and requisitions for material and equipment. Will work in a discipline of either General Contracting, Mechanical Contracting or Electrical Contracting. They may also have to minimize risk during the execution of the project.
Education Requirements
- Completion of Grade 12
- Degree/ Diploma in fields such as: Engineering, Architecture, Construction Technology or Technician.
- Check with the school of your choice for admission requirements.
- Work experience sometimes required
- An apprenticeship in related construction fields or
- Start as a Project Manager?s helper or as a Project Coordinator
- Certification in Project Management through the Canadian Construction Association.
- This can be achieved through an examination of skills and knowledge to earn Gold Seal Certification .
