Fence Installer

 

Job Description

 

Installs and repairs all types of fence systems including security, privacy, ornamental, noise attenuation barrier, guide rail etc. These systems include the following materials: wire, wood, metal, rigid vinyl and concrete. The above systems are installed in residential and commercial, industrial or institutional applications. A fence installer reads blueprints, survey plans and specifications to determine materials required and installation procedures. Assembles and installs gates including swing, slide and cantilever, which may include access control equipment.

 

Education Requirements

 

Fence Installer is a non-regulated occupation. It is a trade learned on-the-job.

  • Completion of high school is preferred, with courses in Math, Technology and English.
  • On the job training is the ideal entrance in this career
  • College courses in construction and related fields and previous work experience is an asset.
