Job Description

 

A roofer installs, replaces, repairs and maintains all types of roofs. Industrial/commercial roofing is generally low-sloped utilizing hot asphalt or rubber and plastic sheet materials. Residential roofing is generally steep-sloped using asphalt, wood, slate or tile shingles.

 

Education Requirements

 

  • Grade 12 completion
  • Agreement with a certified employer
  • Completion of 6,000 working hours, under the supervision of a certified employer in the field, which also includes 16 weeks of technical training.

ˇ        Successfully pass the final certification examination

ˇ        An Interprovincial Standards? Red Seal Certification is available after the Roofer Certification has been achieved. The Interprovincial Certification allows the roofer to work across Canada.

  • This is a non-regulated occupation
