WHY PARTNERSHIPS MATTER: THE POWER OF COLLABORATION IN CONSTRUCTION
By Mandy Bujold, Manager of Industry & Community Partnerships, GVCA
At GVCA, we’re in the business of building—structures, communities, and most importantly, relationships. This past month, we saw that in action at two incredible golf tournaments and our Member Appreciation Event, where the real magic wasn’t just in the drives and putts, but in the partnerships formed off the course.
Both the GVCA Golf Tournament and our Leaders in Construction (LinC) Tournament were more than just a chance to enjoy the sunshine and hit the greens—they were an opportunity to strengthen connections within our community. These events bring together contractors, suppliers, consultants, and industry leaders in a way that no meeting room ever could.
The conversations that happen between holes, over lunch, or during the reception are often where future collaborations begin. It’s these relaxed, authentic moments that spark trust, creativity, and new opportunities. This year, we saw that firsthand—with members meeting for the first time, reconnecting with old colleagues, and even planting the seeds for future projects.
Celebrating the People Behind the Projects
Our Member Appreciation Event was another great reminder that it’s the people behind the projects who make our industry thrive. It’s easy to get caught up in schedules, scopes, and specs but events like these help us pause, connect, and acknowledge the value of relationships.
When members show up—not just for business, but for community—it reinforces something we already know: partnerships are the backbone of construction. They’re how we share ideas, solve problems, and keep pushing our industry forward.
Why This Matters
When GVCA members take part in events like these, they’re doing more than supporting the association—they’re investing in the future of our industry. They’re helping to create a culture where collaboration, mentorship, and shared success are the norm.
Whether it’s through a casual round of golf, a networking event, or working together on a community initiative, every interaction builds trust—and trust builds better business.
So to all of our members who continue to show up, participate, and contribute: thank you. You’re not just building projects. You’re building better industry relationships—and that’s something worth celebrating.
