The Awards of Excellence were presented across categories including industrial, commercial, and institutional projects, each further segmented by dollar value, resulting in 15 distinct awards. These awards recognized excellence in execution, teamwork, and accomplishment.

All eligible projects must have posted substantial completion between January 1, 2023 and December 31, 2024.
Industrial – includes warehouse, manufacturing facility, power generating plant, water and waste treatment plant, industrial strip mall. |

Commercial – includes arena/auditorium, call centre, retail/department store, restaurant/theatre, high or low-rise office/hotel/motel,

Restoration/Conversion |
This is a team award for the restoration/conversion or adaptive re-use of a building that makes a profound contribution to a neighbourhoods’ character, diversity and sense of identity. There is no dollar limit on the cost of the project and this submission does not need to be completed by the General Contractor. If you worked on the project in any aspect, and feel it is worthy of an award, please complete the online form. You can even submit your own company! |
Innovation & Sustainability |
Innovation & Sustainability relate to the innovation processes implemented and/or products developed or used. Any company - large or small - can complete a submission in this category. All submissions must be from current members in good standing with the Grand Valley Construction Association. |
Community Leader |
The Community Leader award can be given to an individual or a company. If the company culture or individual promotes diversity in the workplace and/or gives back to the community in meaningful ways, it is recognized as a Community Leader and a winner! |
Women Empowerment |
The Women Empowerment Award for the 2025 Building Excellence Awards honors visionary leaders who are making a significant impact on the construction industry by championing gender equality and empowering women in the field. This award celebrates individuals or organizations that have demonstrated outstanding commitment to fostering an inclusive environment, advancing women's roles in construction, and inspiring future generations to pursue careers in the industry. It serves as a powerful recognition of those who are not just breaking barriers but are also paving the way for lasting change. |
Skilled Trades of the Year |
The Skilled Trades of the Year - award celebrates Trades person who have made significant contributions within the construction industry. This award honors a tradesperson who has made significant contributions to the construction industry. Recognizing exceptional skill, precision, and dedication, it celebrates those who have mastered their trade, consistently deliver high-quality work, and set industry standards. The recipient is a role model for peers and apprentices, embodying excellence and professionalism. |
